What is the Agricultural and Pumping Interruptible Program (AP-I)?

Southern California Edison’s (SCE) AP-I program is available to agricultural and pumping customers currently served under an eligible Agricultural and Pumping Rate Schedule. With AP-I you can receive monthly bill credits for allowing us to temporarily interrupt electric service to your pumping equipment during periods of peak energy demand. Bill credits are applied year round, even when no interruptions occur.

How It Works

A control device is installed near your meter or pumping equipment to control the total load served. When the grid is experiencing high demand, the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) notifies us that energy use must be reduced. We then transmit a signal to the device that automatically turns off electricity until critical demand—or the occasional test—has ended.

For billing and participation purposes, your location is required to have interval meters capable of recording electricity use in 15-minute intervals. There is a six-month minimum enrollment requirement if enrolled by April 30 in a given year and a twelvemonth minimum enrollment requirement if enrolled after April 30 in a given year. Changes or cancellations are only available during the annual adjustment windows outlined in the tariff. To view the AP-I Tariff, go to sce.com/tariffbooks.
