TECH Clean California Incentive Program
TECH Clean California Incentives are available for general market customers interested in the purchase of heat pump technology while funding lasts.
Available Incentives
- Single-family incentives of $1,000 are available for new heat pump HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, with up to two incentivized systems per home for a total of $2,000.
- Incentives of $1000 for a new Heat Pump Water Heater if replacing a traditional electric resistance water heater or up to $3100 if replacing a gas water heater
- Incentives can be layered with federal 25C Energy Efficiency Home Improvement Residential Tax Credits under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for 30% of eligible excess costs for heat pump technologies, panel upgrades, and insulation upgrades for an existing home (subject to maximum annual limits). Visit irs.gov for more information.
How it Works
- Visit switchison.org to find and connect with TECH-Approved Contractors in your area
- Get a quote (or several) for the potential install of new heat pump technologies
- Select your contractor, purchase, and install your new heat pump technology. The TECH Clean California incentive is passed down 100% from the contractor to the customer either as an instant discount deducted from the total project cost at the time of customer payment or in the form of a check or other payment method after the contractor receives the incentive.
Energy Savings Assistance Program
The Energy Savings Assistance (ESA) program is designed to help you conserve energy and save money. Income-qualified customers, including renters, may be eligible to receive energy-efficient appliances at no charge or at a minimal charge. If you qualify, we will cover the costs of new energy-efficient appliances—including installation.
How it Works
- Step 1 - Qualification and Assessment: To be eligible, you must meet specific household income guidelines. After income qualification, a contractor will do a walk-through of your home to collect information to help SCE determine the potential for installation of one or more appliances or services
- Step 2 – Service Delivery: Installation of appliances and services, such as weatherization, are carried out by approved contractors.
- Step 3- Inspection: An inspection may be performed in your home to see if the contractor has completed the work to meet our quality standards. If the work is not done properly, it will be redone at no cost to you.
To be eligible for the ESA program, you must meet these qualifications:
- Be a homeowner or renter with an active SCE service account who receives electric services through a residential meter
- Reside in a single-family home or mobile home. Note: Residences with four (4) or fewer units are considered single-family homes so duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes qualify
- Meet appliance replacement/installation requirements for each service
